Alias Detective Released!

[SALvation]

Now available in out Tools section is our very own Alias Detective for Serious Sam SE.

I have finished programming this software and think it will finally curtail the alias whores.
Simply enter the player name and how specific you want the search to be, and it will return a list of all the aliases that the person has used. All data was gathered using the Detroit and Outlaws GameMecca servers and compiled over the last few months. If you have any questions, just let me know. Also, if you have a log file that you would like to add to the database, just email me at salvation@gamemecca.net.

It works good. But it aint perfect. First off, when I search for Phoenix, it only shows my cherub name, but I have used FAR more names than that. For example, look for mental and you will get C:/Mental(which was me). with that name, there are the other aliases I have used. Its good, but it just needs a little tweaking.

The Alias Detective is a good thing. Obviously we are going to have some hard feelings here while everyone figures out who are the repeat offenders are but in the end it will rid us of this problem. Maybe people will actually use their clan tags- wouldn&#39;t that be crazy&#33;&#33;

I completely understand. I would be pissed as well. Of course, you have to come to expect it. You are the best sam player right now, people are going to try to piss you off however they can.

Works well Sal. I would like to point out that I have much greater respect for those people with or without clan tags that have only one name in the list. I looked through the merc list and most don&#39;t have too many aliases. I think this is a step towards keeping everyone honest.

As for Ephemerion and the Casanova brothers.. Casanova brothers lay off Ephemerion and try not to swear/taunt/etc. players in a game.. it&#39;s really not a cool thing to do and shows poor sportsmanship. Eph, try not to take it so hard and just ignore them, or leave the game when they appear. Best way to not get upset is to just wait till the players that irritate you simply leave. Better for one&#39;s health really. Tis just a game, that&#39;s how I see it.

I hate bickering.. gives me a damn headache.

This could get confusing. I just did a search for myself. It also found Devilish and two other names on an exact IP match.

You have selected an EXACT IP search. The names listed below were found using the exact same IP and indicate a 100% chance that the names were used from the same PC.
This isn&#39;t true. What it reports makes since though, because I have a 4 PC network, all sharing the same internet connection, i.e. the same IP address. Can we tell when it&#39;s an alias and when it&#39;s multiple people behind a NAT server? I don&#39;t think so. :(

Sal, don&#39;t get me wrong. I think your Alias Detection is great. I had just forgotten that everything coming from my network would be on the same IP and thus considered an alias. Sortof caught me off guard. I guess you&#39;re right, the people that count know.

Yes. There is actually a bug I have to fix because you guys use an apostophe in your tag. It should be fixed shortly. Then all DWF will show up.
