Thanks for the link. I doubled the memory allocation for the AGP slot and got the score up to 4388, no big deal but better. I might overclock the card a little but it only has a heat sink on the card, no fan. I know guys, but cash flow is a problem! Is it worth the risk if any?

Hey Shogun! Did you happen to get a screen shot from the midnight SS2 game we had this morrning? I took one but screwed up editing it! :( That was a great come from behind win for you. I couldn't belive how quickly you closed in on me. That was my best game yet! B) So if you got a shot, send it to me, please.

Dam...Oh well.. Belive me the 4 games I had before that were horrible, I just got in a groove! And you rattled me with some quick kills, made me leave my kill zone! Nice game! B)

As far as the card goes, that's a new upgrade from the G-2 mx200 I was using. Maybe in the summer when the Ge-4 ti400 or 600's drop I'll pick on up but for now this will have to do! And it play's UT3 pretty well, I'm just always looking for a edge.A cheap one, but still a edge! :D

System Info Version: 2.2
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98---make sure you have latest directx installed
Processor: Intel PentiumŪ 4 @ 1.59 GHz-----
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200---good card and actually the same chip as ti500--put a fan on heatsing if you o/c--do not reccomend you overclock
Total Physical Memory: 256 MB------------if this is your ram set agp aperture to 128 mb
Free Physical Memory: 51.01 MB------what the hell is running in the background? this should not be in windows 98---try to see whats running o your system that is not needed as it seems to be hogging recourses.
Motherboard Manufacturer: ECS----hmmm....this is a very cheapy board goto next line
Motherboard Model: P4S5A----i think this board has both ddr and sdram slots but anyway go into the bios and set memory to ultra and cas latency to 2----disable com ports unless you are using them which i doubt you are. also disable onboard sound if it's enabled. also make sure midi port is disabled and anything else that is not being used. this will hog up and/or share irq's and will slow down other devices.
Sound card SB Live 5.1----uninstall all the crappy software that you really do not use that came with the cd. i think this is whats hogging up all your memory.

hope this helps.

I changed the cas latency from 2.5T to2T
host to memory latency is set at normal and it wont allow me to change it.
After I shut down my anti virus and zone alarm I have 90% system resources free. OK?
Under msconfig/startup I have these selected,

Loadpowerprofile: rundll32exepowerprof.dllloadcurentpowerscheme
AVG_CC: Antivirus
LoadQM: LoadQM
Sc2300 camchech: Digital camera (see my usb post)
systray
nevdlrlb.exe
Loadpowerprofile: rundll32exepowerprof.dllloadcurentpowerscheme (why's this in twice?)
Avgserv9exe: antivirus
True vector: Zone alarm
Loadoutmanager: Nostromo keepad
Zonealarm

I always disable my zone alarm and antivirus before gaming and hosting to free up resources. Suggestions?

Yo Pure, you need to goto where I am most of the time....
http://www.futuremark.com

Goto the forums and sign up and they have forums that ONLY talk about tweaking.

To get the best score (and I sure do not want to do it right now) is to format your Harddrive install windows, your drivers for you vid card, and run your benchmark.

My specs are:

AMD XP1800 @ 1.54
MSI: 6373 MB
512 MB DDR 2100
9500 PRO

with this I get just shy of 11,000
I could o/c the vid card, but then I would void the best warrenty in the world.

BEST advice I could give is to buy a 9700 PRO or 9500 PRO

goto www.ecsusa.com and see if there is a bios update for your board.

i think you have a sis chipset so i will tell you to download the latest drivers for your motherboard such as the agp ones as they can boost quite a bit of performance. try to use the nvidia drivers that are below 40. as the main boosts were for the geforce 4 cards with them. if you want me to take a loo at your system i will be home later on tonight and i i will give you an address to connect to but you must have net meeting installed. do you have cable or dial up service?

uninstall the zone alarm as it is easy to get passed if someone knows what they are doing and most people do not configure it correctly anytway.

right click on network neighborhood and make sure file and printing sharing is not enabled and you should be pretty safe.

i will be on later and may ck in once in a while so let me know if you want me to look at your setup from a remote area by you connecting to my server.

more ram will always help but do not go over 512 using a 9x kernel unles you plan to edit some sys files which still does not help all the time. install the latest agp driver for that motherboard and it should help some. is your processor using the 400 fsb or 533 fsb? also do you have ddr or do you have sdram? i need to know these things to relate to the hardware. if you can not find the files you need please feel free to e-mail me and i will send them to you. if anyone has tried the new nortons utilities 2003, i would give it 2 thumbs up over previous versions. it uses very littl resources and has lots of neet tools to keep your system optimized for those who are not that pc savy. i actually use it for the quick ness of doing the things it takes a while to do.

my e-mail address should be in my profile.

CPU AMD Athlon™ Processor 1197 MHz

FSB 133 MHz

Memory 256 MB

Graphics Chipset NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/Pro/Ti

Driver Name NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/GeForce2 Pro

The result from this was 4515 3D marks. That was back when I had an Athlon 1200 w/266 fsb, and a GF2 32 meg card. Maybe you have some stuff running at startup that you could do without. Go to Start/Run, and type in msconfig, hit enter. Go to the 'Startup' tab, and see if there is some stuff in there that should be stopped. Here's my current, ran today after putting on the VIA 4.45 drivers.

Score: 10463

Looks like it's 400 fbs. How do I change it? I don't see a jumper for it in the manual?

Is your processor meant to run at 533? You'll need to know that before changing anything in the BIOS.

The book on the processor of course says nothing about bus speed, but from what I could find on pentium's web page all the 1.6 are 400 fsb. :(

But from the adjustments that you guys gave me I went from a 4365 to a 4492 :D

So it is a improvement and I thank you all!

He just got the Radeon 9700 Pro, that is why his score is so high. He is also using an AMD XP1800, 512 of PC2100 ram, and the new Asus A7N8X like me.

Soon as I get the FX card I will smoke that score.

What kind of hard drive do you have? I went from a broken ATA33 to a ATA133 and my score jumped about a thousand points.

dx9 suxs. no one needs it right now and is still full of bugs. if you need to uninstall dx9 there is a program that does it and puts back the original dx but you need your os cd with you and you have to do it in safe mode to do it in xp.
