OK heres the deal. I've got the above mentioned money and am in desperate need of a new game. I love the speed of Sam and from reading some of y'alls post about other games, none of the other FPS games have that speed. So I would like y'alls opinions on some other FPS games.
Games I've played: all the Quakes, SOF's, Max Payne, Delta Force, UT2k3 and SS1 and 2.
Keep in mind that I'm looking for a FPS game for the PC.
Thanks $pike B)
I'm interested in hearing the suggestions too.

Is that a kill everything you see game, or is it a team/mission based game?

Unless you have a time period that you have to use it I would say
wait till Doom 3
Doom 3 will cost $450. $50 for the game and $400 for the FX card.

I agree give dues ex a try i have been playing it for a year now and it rocks both in multi and single. Its older so it shouldn't cost you that much. Its is great if you like to sniper. Levels are medium size not as big as UT 2003. But i say try it out. :jammin: :wootrock:

Depends. Sometimes 5 mins or so and others can take quite a while. I think it depends on how many on each team and maybe on the map. I'm not sure cuz it's my husband that plays it. At first I thought the game was kind of dumb until I really played it. It really is a good game once you get into it.  <--- my 2 thumbs up

I saw someone playing the beach landing scene (is that how it always starts?) and he eventually jumped in a halftrack with some other people (he was playing online). It seemed to go pretty smooth, a lot of action, but that was online. Is online different than single player in length of play?
Sepra
01-16-2003, 12:47 PM
No. there are many maps. Some arent on the beach at all, like my fav map is Berlin where there are buildings. As far as the comparison between the length of offline and online play, i've never had a long offline play before. Online you can have either. Like I said before, I havent really played it enough either.

Really? that's cool. I think you would like playing then. It's obviously a slower pace thant SSam, but it has more of a tactical strategy. Once your into the game and spawn points are overthrown it can get more intense. You cant get any closer to the real elements of combat!

Well, the way the Demo that was snagged/leaked played for people, that may be true, but look at it this way as well - the Doom 3 engine was made before there were 2GHz procs, and was first shown teamed with the GF3 card, showcasing both the game's and the card's abilities with lighting and other 3D programming hurdles. I don't think it's too optimistic to think that it may play ok on GF4 cards, certainly on a Radeon 9700, and a GF-FX will no doubt handle it best, until the ATI next-best-thing comes out. Carmack insists that that demo doesn't represent well, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt (doesn't make the wait any less not too!) and hope that they have optimized it enough by release time that it will play OK on my 1.8 AMD, 512 M and GF4 4400.
Back to the topic, what kind of FPS game would you prefer? BF 1942 is more team-based, Unreal 2 is coming out Feb 4 at $50 ( I have another thread whining about that). If you want a creepy game that is nice visually, Undying is fun. Wolfenstein is the best team-based game I've ever played, period, and has SP play as well. Jedi Knight 2 has both MP and SP, and is darn cool, I thought, but I'm a Star Wars fan.
