take aim and winzip quick pak out too. You can always start AIM manually. I don't like to have it on all the time either, and it make the puter boot a little quicker :thumbs:

I&#39;d take off Quik-task and MS office as well, unless you use office a lot, but I&#39;m pretty stingy with what I let run. Real player as well, if you have it there, and any other non-essential apps.

I say that only because it is a bit of a memory hog, and there are ways to stop it from starting up on you. Then again, I only use office minimally, and would rather just start Word or Excel when I choose, and I use Office Pro &#39;97, as it does what I want, and isn&#39;t mammoth-sized like Office 2000, and I&#39;ve never even seen Office XP. I&#39;ve installed 2000 on my wife&#39;s machine, and others, and it&#39;s so darn big. I would still say shut it down, but that&#39;s personal preference, of course. As I say, I&#39;m pretty tight-a&#036;&#036;ed about what I let run, and if you use office a lot, and it starts up significantly faster to have it running, by all means let it run. I&#39;d be interested in some time comparisons, though, of how fast it actually takes to kick up the programs in Office with and without it already running.

I with ya on getting rid of Office out of the startup routine, While your at it ditch "Find Fast" too, That&#39;s part of Office you can do without also.
Both are just using up system resources. ;)

I used msconfig and it works till I start an office program.

You can get it not to start up by disabling "all" Microsoft Office Start Up files like "Find Fast" and any of the OSA9 references. I can&#39;t get through to that page. I found some other references to it searching Google, and none of those worked, either. I&#39;ll try it later, maybe it is in maintenance or something.
