My Dad just got a 21" flat panel from Dell. I played Sam on it and it is perfectly clear with rich robust colors. The 9700 Pro he got with it probably didn't hurt!

I think they are a lot better than they used to be.

Im using a 17" inch one right now. It runs great and I have perfect images with lots of anti glare.
Got it for $544 off pricewatch. VERY nice monitor. Its made by Cornea Technologies.

Right now I have a CRT 19" 18" viewable KDS flat screen with a .25 dot pitch.
I know that with crt monitors the dot pitch makes a big difference.
Does this apply with the LCD screens?

I'm not sure what the exact cost was because he just bought a whole new system for Dell. I do know that by selecting that monitor it added $1000.

I have two 21" regular old crt monitors. I am not shelling out $1000+ for flat screens and I don't like to game on anything smaller than a 21" screen.

The 19" works good for me.

I'm actually starting to look into getting one myself... I knew a few of my friends have Dell flat panels and they really like them.. I'm including a link to tomshardware because that's where I tend to do a decent amount of my research on computer things... I did a quick search for monitors and there's quite a few lcds in there... check it out if ya want

I have Samsung LCD and it's pretty good you should buy 19" I have 15.1, It's better for small details if you design on the computer (like me) and for games it's pretty good.

I haven't studied them much, and I know people who use them, but for gaming purposes, the CRTs are still preferred. I'd rather spend $450-500 on a good 21 inch CRT than $600 or $700 on an LCD screen, but that will come down to personal preference. WTH do I know, I'm using a 17-inch Dell monitor, 7years old now. I'd like to upgrade, too, but this beast just won't die! The LCDs are very cool, but I'd try to research that the one I was interested in would give me the gaming performane I want before buying. Maybe Best Buy or ChompUSA will have a couple out for you to get a good look at.

It does seem to take forever to get rebates.
I have a theory that they don't send them, unless you check on the status of them.
And that.................my friend...............makes me..........an angry camper! :)

Naw, you don't have to check on them, CompUSA will send you a denial letter. At Least they did to me. I had bought a 15gig and a 30gig Maxtor drive, each with a rebate. When they rang up the 30gig, it came up with the wrong price, so I had them fix it. The rebate people wouldn't send the rebate because the receipt didn't have the right numbers on it. I wrote back, explaining what had happened and they sent be the checks. Boy was I surprized. :wootrock:

I've found Maxtor to be a good company to deal with. Between me a a couple buddies, we've sent back two drives that failed or had problems, and gotten better drives in return! Not there there have been many overall, and I love the quietness of the liquid bearings.
