what do these parsers do, never tried one, kinda confused

Death Engineer

It takes information that is in text format from your chat.log file (which saves all the info that scrolls across the screen during the game) and displays it in a more user-friendly format. Try it out. You're likely to find some neat info and statistics.

DE,
The link appears to be gone for this program. Can you repost the program? Thanks a ton.

It looks like this thread got whacked up with the upgrade. I'm working on a new version of the parser now that I know what I'm doing. I'll start a new thread if I can get my hands on a good copy of the old version. :)

Any comments or suggestions?

I'm in the middle of rewriting it now that I know what I'm doing with C#. The current posted version has some issues that I don't care for with not catching all the style and/or spells. The new version will also support Total Exp, Realm Points, Deaths ... and maybe some chat filters. :)

The new version will also get info about the additional coin/exp bonus from having 8 or more keeps.

How about a pop up to remind me to start logging? J/K. So far all I can think of to add is a chat log viewer. I'm still looking at it and I haven't used all the functionality yet, like the lotto and crafting features. I'd also like to try it on a couple different toons.
Its funny because it shows the mobs resisting about 25% of the time, but I'd swear its closer to 50%. LOL.

Hehe. I have just gotten into a habit of hitting 'L' when I log on.

I'm not 100% confident in some of the numbers of the current released version. The spell/style miss and resists are just a few of them. The new version I'm working on should be much more stable.

After studying a recent log a bit more though, if you use backup styles while melee fighting, there may not be a way to tell which style failed or missed.

Would you want to be able to view the whole log? Would it help if I just opened it in wordpad or something like that?

Hammertime

Having a quick link to word pad would be helpful. I was thinking more along the lines of viewing the results you've parsed for verification purposes. For instance in the cashflow section it showed several items that went to <none>. Some of these were armor drops that I would be kicking myself if I left them lying in some field somewhere.

Death Engineer

So a box where you could view each type of message? That's not a bad idea.

The drops are another tough thing. If you're close to someone else who kills a mob and the mob drops something, it will show up in the drop list. That's probably what you're referring to with the <None> entries.
