Ok here the deal - did a virus scan before i went to work, it found and deleted the virus called Backdoor.Opti.12 or something like that which was wimamp.exe file (which got deleted)
Now nothing on my computer loads up on startup in the systray.. like norton antivirus and my firewall - nothing at all!
If i goto click on Internet Explorer i get this error (its the same with all my programs on my Quick Launch bar..
The Error says " Windows cannot find C:\Program Files\INternet Explorer\IEXPLORE.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and the try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click Search."
But all the programs are there..
WIERD!!! HELP PLEASE HELP!!

Damn Op, you're not getting much help here are you!
I responded in the hideout.
But I probably won't be of much help.
I deleted some files once (that I shouldn't have) and luckily was able to get them out of the recycle bin.
Do a search on the internet for the virus you had/have.
You might see someone having the same problems you're currently having.
Good Luck.

First try to run explorer from the 'Run' command. Duh...obviously you can. Anyway, have you gone to the site of your virus software company and tried to find a removal tool?
http://search.symantec.com/custom/us/query.html
This link has two links to the virus.

Oh man...I don't know what to tell you. If there isn't a removal tool, and you didn't have the latest VirDef...you might be screwed.

That is a bogus file though, is it not? I thought that winamp's exe. was 'winamp.exe'

You didn't say what your OS is, but here is a good shot. Going into safe mode is the way for non-NT OSes, stopping the process on 2K and XP. Keep your AV stuff current. Otherwise, it might be time to start anew.
