View Full Version : Do I need to install the software?

My MX700 mouse is up and running and seems to work fine without the software. Of course I haven't tried programming the extra buttons, but then I may not even do that.

Did someone say that they had some sort of a delay until they installed to latest drivers or something like that?

I think it was SAL that said that. Not sure though.

The delay was in Q3. If you don't install the software, it will act fine as far as the buttons go, but you won't be able to assign them differently (I think) I just went ahead and did it.

Install the software as it lets you program the mouse buttons. Make sure you download the latest from Logitech as the version in the box is outdated.

Okay, thanks.

Sirc there is also a registry fix that you might look into if you have problems with some games. LINK (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=downloads/software&CRID=320&contentid=4999&OSID=1&softwareid=8211&countryid=19&languageid=1)

Yeah, I was just reading about that. It sounds like you only have to do the registry fix if you install Logitech's drivers. I think I'll wait to install the driver. I don't see any problem with it the way it is right now.

Make sure you download the latest drivers as suggested already.

No! :tounge:

I'm not gonna install the drivers until I have a reason to. I'm gonna go play a quick game of Q3 in a bit and see if I had the same delay problem that Sal did.

It was me that had the delay in Q3. It would not recognize small movements when I used the Winblows drivers and the ones that came with it had problems. The latest ones are good though.

Did you have to do the registry fix too?

No. What does it fix?

The mouse wheel weapons switching I think. Anyway I just played Q3 and didn't see any problems. What kind of delay were you seeing Machine?

It was more like it would not see small or slow movements but woulded fine in other games and in Windoze.

Hmmm. I didn't notice anything like that. Maybe its not an issue in Win2K. :WTF:

Sirc. I installed the software and couldnt program the side buttons. I tried reprograming them to a standard windows key then using that to customize the buttons to Ssam and still nothing. Can you let me know if you had any luck......and what you did? Thanx!

I didn't install the software that came with it. I just plugged it in and it worked. I haven't tried to program the extra buttons for gaming yet though. I have Windows 2000.

yea, it took me 4-6 game of sam to adjust the settings a little, but it is way more responsive then my old optical mouse. Maybe that is what I can't walk straight in sam no more
