Lanwar 24 October 09, 2004 Its in LOUSIVILLE,KY. Some of the {DS} gang went here at the first of the year. And theirs more going to this one in OCT. The GUMMIE BEARS will be their also and a few more GM memebers.

Listen,if you have not exsperinced a lan party. Then try your best to make it to this one. It was awsome and lots of fun. 550 players playing ever what you want. They have cheap motels and places to eat pluse you get a discount at certain motels if you mention you are their for the LAN party.

Its also held on the campus  . Plenty to do and places to go. This would be a great place for all of us to meet and play at. We can also request to be seated all together too. And also you can stay their all night. It is open from like 10pm SAT to like 6pm on SUN.

If you are intereasted look at our DS section and find the pics from the one we already went to. Also vist LANwar .com to find out more info.

Lanwar is a awesome lan!

Look at the floor link 1 (http://www.lanwar.com/images/LW17BigPic800.jpg)

Everything you need to know is found here (http://www.lanwar.com/faq/faq.asp)

And like LaSH said, we can get GM seating, or if you like, just clan seating. {DS} & Thundarr did this and we all ended up with great seats.

They also have enough door prizes that more than cover the admision costs. I think I got 2 t-shirts and a hat. They also give away CPU's, Graphics cards, mobo's, games, etc. Since Assus, AMD, Nvidia are their major sponsors, they have lots of free stuff.

It is also very professionally run, they've done 22 at the time of this post. They make sure there are no poblems, they even provide free anti virus to make sure everyone has a clean PC.

Area hotels offer lanwar dicounts too. We had a nice room at the Holliday Inn for $70 a night. Food at Lanwar is dirt cheap and there's a Mc D's within a 5 minute walk if you feel the need. If you can't afford a room, they actually let you sleep on the flooor at Lanwar, it's quite the sight... of course, one of your friends may duck tape you to the floor while you sleep

As far as playing games, there's a ton to be played, and you can bring your own server and hook into the network too. (SSSE players). Not to mention tournaments in UT, CS, BF, Q-3 and possibly more.

The major advantages of going to lanwar is, it's cheap, fun, someone else does all the work! Free stuff :P

Even though when {DS} went in Feb, we didn't get to spend the time with the Gummi's that we wanted too, we sure did have fun as a clan :wootrock: This October will be even better :jammin:

Hope some of you will make the trip!

Just to add onto what LaSH and Pure have already said.
It' s a great lan party without any of the headaches. The folks that run it are great. I took and extra comp with me and they helped me set it up on server row. I ran it from my computer out on the main floor using PC Anywhere and serious runner. Worked great. So no matter what every one else is doing you can run your own game server.

LanWar is cheap for what you get. All you need is the entry fee, your computer, a power strip, network cable, pair of headphone and the urge to play games for hours on end.

Lanwar 23 is Million Man Lan 3, a awesome event, but a horrible time of year for a good chunk of {DS}. 4 days of gaming, too much in my mind. If I'm taking a 4-5 day vacation in June, it's on a beach with Hot sweaty women in bikinis, not in a hall with hot sweaty gamers

Also, for me at least, a lan party without Goober and LaSH

Rosie, you can take your PC tower on a plane, then just have one of us hook you up with a monitor. Or update your graphics card on your old PC and ship it to LaSH or Goober, or anyone you know personally who's going. if there's a will, there's a way ;)

3. What are the official Tournaments? - Burden, 4/17/2004 11:35:25 AM

Half Life Counterstrike
Battlefield
Unreal Tourney 2004 DM
Warcraft III
DDR
XBOX Soul Calibur

4. What are the prizes for the official tournaments? - Burden, 4/17/2004 11:36:31 AM
Prizes for the tournaments will be announced when tourney registration opens.

5. What games will be played? - Burden, 4/7/2004 11:07:47 PM
If you bring it, odds are that someone will play it. We will have several official tournaments. In addition to the tournaments, I'd say somewhere around 50-100 different games are played during the event You can always have the staff announce if you are starting up a new game, plus there is always an IRC channel in the room. Game On.

It is NOT UT only, any multi player game can be played. :jammin:

I was hoping some of the Gods would come since they play BF.

Yo ROSIE. Hopefully by then me and Goober will have us another system. You are welcomed to use mine i am running wright now. I know you would do awsome on it. And we have an extra monitor. So all you need to worry about is "GETTING YOUR BUTT OVER HERE!". lol You think my LAN party was fun,you aint seen nothing yet. Trust me you would not leave disappointed.

MillionManLan is the best Lan Party I have ever been too. First it was 700+, then it was 1000.. now they are going to have 1500 it looks like.

If you are only able to make it to one lan, then make MML your lan.

Regular LanWar's are still a super good time. I went to my first Lanwar at Lanwar 8.. I havnt missed one since. 16 in a row. I seriously wouldn't miss them for the world.

I don't really think I can explain just how much fun a lan party is. I actually turned down an offer to go to Lanwar 7 because I "didnt want to go play games for 2 days straight". Turns out, its NOT just about gaming. SO much more goes on.. not to mention the fun night life if you hang with the Gummis ;) Like I said.. once I went.. I havnt missed one in 16 events. Not to mention the AsylumLAN's I have attended. I have been to 10 straight of those. I take my days off from work each year just so I can go to these events.

If you can make it, come. Simple as that.

Also.. Lash.. its Gummi.. not GummiE ;) :P

Sorry to hear that Zell, but there's another in January or Febuary that Diss and maybe Thundarr are going to, and probably some more of us. If you want, I'll be happy to put together a bunch of pics of what's going on and give your Dad a call and give him a sales pitch. Being a Dad, I know where he's coming from, and I totally understand his reluctance, but I bet I could pursuade him into letting you go to one next year. Unless you're just irresponsable, and I don't think that's the case. But a chat wouldn't hurt. There's no rush, but if he's willing, with Smooth's help, I bet I could paint a good picture of what these events are like and why it's a good experience for you to go. ;)

Hmm, very tempting.

I think I will come over for this especially if I can meet up with all you guys.

Do I have to bring my PC or can I rent one?

You have to bring your own. There SOMETIMES is a company that rent's monitors (although I think its VERY expensive), but no.. I haven't seen anyone ever rent PC's.

How far do you live away?

I'm not sure I could bring my PC. I would be too afraid of it getting damaged on a plane and the transfers etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Buy a shuttle case and and put your HD, video card and ram in it, then carry it on. I have that type of system and it's carry on luggage.

Goober rented a 17' monitor at the last one we went to. And i think he only paid like 10 or 15$ a day for it. We could rent you one and bring it with us and you just pay us..................problem solved.

Don't wait TOO long. THe place sells out within a few hours :) I believe registration generally opens at 10PM EST which is -5:00 GMT on a Friday. My guess is it will be either this Friday or next.
