I have been running Norton for several years now. Installed 2004 a few months ago and then it decided to start giving me trouble. Learned something, It is a veritable Bit** to reinstall Norton. You can almost never uninstall it completely (using the instructions from Symantec) without doing a complete reinstall of Win XP. I went with what Pure told me to do several months ago and installed the free version of AGV.
Execution, I would strongly advise you to install an anti virus.

does this affect 2003 aswell or just 2004? i tested 2004 and find it to be slower than 2003.

I use Norton's Anti-virus 2002. I have had zero problems with it.

Ditto.
I run the live update just about every day and it works like a champ.

Yep, My Norton System Works 2004 Pro works EXCEPT THE Anti Virus. It will not stay active to protect me from viruses. I am now running AVG and it works like a charm. Norton has lost a customer FOREVER!!! :bandhead:
