A 73GB 15K Seagate SCSI Drive for $200 instead of a 160GB Seagate IDE for $112.

do you have a scsi card?

is ultra 160 or 320?

may want to wait for the new sata controller cards

whats your need for scsi or expectancy from it?

do you have a scsi card?-Yes an LSI LSIU160 Host Adapter
is ultra 160 or 320?-The drive is U320, my host adapter is U160
you may want to wait for the new sata controller cards-64-bit SATA controller cards are expensive, SATA is inferior to U160 SCSI, and I already have a SCSI Host Adapter
whats your need for scsi or expectancy from it?-Firstly I have four open connections on my SCSI cable while only having one open connection on my primary IDE cable. If I put the new drive as Primary Slave, it will be behind my 80GB drive which already has most of my stuff on there. I'll be going back and forth between the two drives quite often and Master<->Slave file operations on IDE drives is painfully slow. If I get the 15K SCSI drive, I'll probably put Windows XP and its programs on that, put Debian on the 10K SCSI, and relegate the 80GB to storing backups and files that I don't use often.

dunno, after the woot! and yahoo! it may be better to have the capacity and spend
the $80 on something else. unless you are out of room. it may not be a bad idea
to wait until you are, as the prices will not go up. a dvd burner ($80+) may be a
good idea, get one and you can stuff 5 cdroms of data onto it, should free up your
existing drive nicely...

There's a link to my system specs in my sig.

This is really a light-hearted thread, I can't allow myself to spend that much money on a hard drive. I'll likely end up getting the IDE. It will, however, take me a long time to fill up 73 more gigabytes, muchless 160 more.

Ok, my uncle and I were bored and went around town and I found a 160GB WD drive for a decent enough price ($118). I'd have to drive 100 miles to pick it up if I ordered it off of the internet (my bank account address has to stay in Mississippi, I live in Louisiana) so I jumped on it.
