The College World Series starts on Friday in Omaha. Did any of you alls favorite team make it this year?
The teams:
#2 Texas (55-13)
#3 Miami team (49-11)
#5 South Carolina (50-15)
#8 LSU (46-17)
#11 Arkansas (44-20)
#16 Cal State Fullerton (42-21)
#20 Georgia (43-21)
NR Arizona (35-25-1)
The SEC conference is sending 4 teams this year, the most of any conference. My LSU Tigers are 1 of the 4 SEC teams to make it to Omaha! LSU will make its 13th overall College World Series appearance having won it all in '91, '93, '96, '97 and 2000. At home LSU plays at Alex Box Studium but the Tigers have won the National Championship so often that they are starting to refer to Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium as Alex Box North.
LSU opens Saturday against a Miami team that is making its 21st appearance. It will be the first time LSU and Miami have met since the Tigers' Warren Morris hit his game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of a 9-8 victory in the 1996 championship game. That hit has been called the most dramatic hit in the history of the CWS.
Hopefully my boys aren't 2 and done like last year.
