3.338 grams of matter contains 83,333,333.3 KW/h of energy. It would take a modern coal plant 44,996.4003 tons (40,820,047.7 kg) of coal to make that much energy.

The entire state of arizona only produces 62,720,000,000 KW/h of energy per year. If we could achieve matter->energy transformation, that production could be accomplished by 83.4050691 fluid ounces (2.46662 liters) of regular tap water.

We have it already. It's called anti-matter. Unfortunately it's both expensive as hell and extremely unstable to be used in power plants right now.

Cool fact bud.

I like science alot, but i did not know that matter actualy contained usable energy.
So its like potential energy from matter contains usable energy?
Also where is this energy coming from?
Atoms?

An amount of mass is equal to certain quantity of energy. This is called Mass-Engergy Equivalence. This is where E=mc^2 comes from. Energy (in Joules)= Mass (in kilograms) * c (the speed of light in m/s)^2.

I made a mistake somehow (I was pretty tired last night). That 4 grams should be about 3.338 grams.

So .003338 kilograms * c * c=3.59502071e14 Joules=83,333,333.3 KW/h

4 grams would actually be 99.8 MkW/h. I must have hit the wrong button or something.

Nah, I'm not a scientist. I'm a Geospatial Analyst. I'm going to go to school for physics and math, but that starts this fall.

I'm just interested in this kind of stuff.

funny how such great theories can be constructed when one is bored
