I got a 1995 Mazda 626 5-speed with all of the goodies for $2850. The $1500 loan I took out is my fourth, and therefore critical, line of credit. Once I have it paid off, I'll be in much smoother financial waters.

I had a 93 Mazda 626. Darn nice car. Too bad the transmission and clutch dropped on me. :bawling: My wife and I now share a Mercury Mystique (I call it a Mercury Mistake). I've got 5 grand in engine and transmission work in it since Jan.

i dont mean to shoot ya down Bigg, but for the love of god dont buy a saturn!
if you want a reliable car, buy an import. toyota, nissan mazda and honda all make great cars. if you want a nice 2 door car, go for a nissan 240sx or an older toyota supra (like mine  .)
i payed $2500 canadian for mine and its an 86.5. its a great car, i havent had any real problems with it at all and it can smoke 5.0L mustangs and cameros like nothing :wootrock:

i have a saturn and a cherokee laredo. truck is sweet but heavy on gas but the saturn is great on gas and is more reliable then any import. this car has over 100,000 miles on it and takes a beating from me as i use it to get in and out of manhattan. these are not highway miles either. a 40 mile drive will take you between 2-3 hours to get to destination. i am heavy on the foot and beat the crap out of this car and she just keeps on taking it. it gets the biggd approval

as for a toyota supra beating a camaro or mustang, you are nuts. there is no import that you described to beat american muscle automobiles.

Why?

I have an excellent credit rating, money is cheap, and this loan will allow me to have established credit. I didn't need to borrow the money, I just did it to help establish my credit.

I'd like a Mustang one day as well.

This 626 is incredibly more comfortable and powerful than the Festiva.

i may be nuts, but im a mechanic and i know what im talking about, ive done my research and most important of all, ive actually beat mustangs and camaros. american "muscle" isnt anything special, big displacement engines that make alot of noise and and do one wheel peels.
its not all about horsepower, there alot of things to consider. alot of the old muscle cars dont have a posi differential so they end up spinning one wheel off the line, also with a straight axle and leif springs theres no way there going to hook up the tires with out putting slicks on there. my supra has posi, independant suspention and CV axles ( on a rear wheel drive car) even at a 3000 RPM launch it hooks right up and away i go, no need for slicks.
and its not like my car is lighter either, heres some curb weight specs:
87 mustang GT - 3300 lbs
86.5 toyota supra (non turbo) - 3500 lbs
87 z28 camaro - around 3200 lbs
my car is heavier, has 2 less cylinders, has a smaller displacement 3 liters compared to 5 liters, it gets better milage and its just plain faster.
all ive done to my car is put on a K&N cone filter and a high flow catylitic converter and ive ran 15 seconds flat in the 1/4 mile.
heres what the camaro and stang run
87 Camaro IROC-Z - horsepower - 230 1/4 mile time - 15.3
87 Mustang GT 5.0 - horsepower - 225 1/4 mile time - 15.2
muscle cars were cool back in the day when they were the fastest things on the road but things have changed

(sorry for the rant :drink: )

So Solid Snake, what did this American muscle cars have on them? 3 or 400,000 miles? Unless you have a turbo supra i find it hard to believe. Im also a mechanic, own my on business actually. I cant see just adding a K&N filter would put you in the ranks with "The Big Dogs". I am a Ford fanatic myself and all of my vehicles have K&N in them. You can post all the spects you want. They all dont hold the same to every vehicle. And as for the horse power comment. Thats what you build every thing around bro. Alot of problems i see now days are young punks getting cars from their parents. Then try to sup them up their self in part their actually tearing them all to hell. I agree with you on the traction, that is a key issue that alot of people tend to forget now days. But i was not their when you beat them so i am not calling you a liar bro. I have seen stranger things.

And BIGG, wait till March before you buy that Mustang. Trust me ;) You will be glad you waited.

what's in march? ii have had my heart on the new mustang 2005 for over a year and since my wife is driving the truck now, i am stuck in the saturn which simply i do not really fit in. it's a good runner but if i get into a car accident, i'm dead

is there another model mustang i missed or something special? you got me wondering and may wait if worth it. i waited thi long but another year is going to be rough.
