Forum Upgrade [Archive] - GameMecca Forums

This weekend, most likely Saturday night, we will be upgrading the forums to the newest version of Invision Board, 2.0. Its kind of a big jump from our current version of 1.2 so please excuse any hiccups we may have during the process. The boards should only be down for about 30 minutes while we perform the upgrade. I'll post a list of new features once I get a hold of them. In the meantime, please make sure you aren't using a free email address for your forum account. Current members were grandfathered in but I have no idea if the upgrade will lock you out or not.

Other stuff:

The new custom BBcode tags include: 'right', 'center', 'left' to align content and 'post' to quick link to a post and 'topic' to quick link to a topic. Links to posts and topics open in the same window and will not open a new window.

Quoted posts (when using the 'reply' or 'quote+') buttons now have a small 'snap-back' image which takes you to the original post that you're quoting.

Also in this build is the new notification options when subscribing to topics and forums. You can now choose from the following notification options:

None: This will not send out any emails but it will retain the forum or topic in the subscriptions panel which will allow you to 'bookmark' useful or favourite topics/forums.
Delayed: This is 'classic' mode. The board will email you notification when you're not active on the board.
Immediate: This will email you immediately after a new topic has been made (forum subscription) or reply has been made (topic subscription). This will send an email regardless of activity and it will send multiple emails if there are multiple replies.
Daily Digest: This will email you a digest of all new topics (forum) or replies (topic) in one email - once per day
Weekly Digest: This acts in the same way as the daily digest but it will digest the week and send it - once per week.

I think the online/offline user indicater while reading posts is a very cool addition. :thumbs:

Oh and the ignore user feature might be handy too. :P

I've narrowed the slowdown to one table in the database and have submitted tickets to our host to optimize it. I doubt this will get done tonight so please be patient.

Our host is on it and is working to optimize our database. Hopefully we will be back to normal speed by the morning. Also, I found a nice looking darker skin I'll install tomorrow.
