I have been getting disconnected from my DSL line at lest once a day.
I have called Bellsouth and they state that there is no problem on the line.

at firt I though it may be because of the length of the phone cord. So I shortened it by about 6 feet or so. Still have the problem.

Next I figured it was perhaps a cable so I changed them No luck.

Also changed the Ethernet card with no luck.

It does this with my firewall turned off and on. Bellsouth states that there is a built in firewall in the modem but isn't turned on.

Here are the specs for that PC. If any of you can offer some advice let me know.

Amd 2400+
756 mb2100 ram
Ati 9000 Pro

Bellsouth is doing line upgrades and we are having problems down here as well. Everything is bogging down at times and sometimes you get the boot. Also the damn thunder storms we have been having don't help....

dunno what you mean by disconnected,
ie: did you lose sync (where one or more of the lights on your dsl modem goes off)
or do you appear to maintain a connection but can't connect?
I have noticed that a few times recently, and I am in atl, their hub.
late last night I had no connectivity... i found that i had hardcoded their
dns addresses in my network tcp settings, and they had changed the primary one,
so it was invalid. changing that took care of the problem....

Still not sure WTF is going on. All I know if Friday a have a Bellsouth dude coming out.
Jim what it does is basically boot my but offline completely. Not sure what the modem is doing.
I have to reset the Modem and within 5 min or so it does it again.

Perhaps your modem is getting old or having problems ?
Are you able to test with another one ?
