If you go to Pricewatch.com and put in "CHAINTECH nVIDIA GeForce 6800" you get back prices from $305.00 to $325.00.

you can save 20 bucks by going with PNY or evga but that's a good price. But I kind of question why you need it, if you just want eye candy, kewl, but if you're doing it to improve gaming skill, it may be a waste since most pro level players play wth low detail and low screen resolution.

I guess that's what bugs me, paying $40-$55 for a game, then $300 or so in upgrades to play it.

ummm, what type of card do you currently have? unless you can't play doom, i wouldn't recommend upgrading to this card. it isn't really a next level card like the 6900 or the x800, but the price is way up there, so i don't feel that it will take you far enough into the future. in fact, i am pretty much of the opinion that you should not upgrade until you absolutely have to. too much money for overpriced silicon.... a better use of the money would be getting an athlon 64 3500+... although that will run $450 with board

whoops, the 6800 versions are top, with the GT being the low end. Are you running Doom3 and find the performance not acceptable? Because currently the nvidia cards have some optimizations that ATI does not. I think ATI will counter and their next gen card will be much better. but whatever man....

i was gonna say...i have never even heard of the 6900...lol

i wont buy ATI...in fact if i won one in my BF:V tourney i was gonna sell it to get an nvidia

Ditto, I am really happy with my 5900 ultra. Curious to see what Doom III is gonna be like on my rig.
