cd drive messed up... again.

When i open it and put in a cd the cd doesnt even load. And i need to burn some files so i can format again.... I tried disabling then enabling the cd drive and i tried uninstalling and reinstalling it too but both dont work! Someone please help. Im REALLY desperate. =/

hmm maybe there is some dust on the laser of the drive (you could try to clean the laser with a special cleaning cd-rom)...
or maybe its ide cable is loose...
or the drive is just messed up that you need to get a new one

does the drive door open all the time?
is it a cd burner or dvd drive?
is the cable being used a 40 or 80 conductor cable?


suggestions---
check cable/change cable
check for dust in drive with drive cleaner
go into bios and set it for auto.


if all those thing still do not fix it, go buy a new one and dont stress and waste too much time on it becuase cd burners are dirt cheap and dvd burners are dirt cheap.:thumbs:
