Sound boost required

I'm looking for a way to boost the volume in my head set for UT 2004. The volume for this game is low to begin with, at least pick up sounds. I was wondering if this would boost the volume in my head set usb adapter (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=29-126-101&depa=0) right now, I'm using the on-board sound, this is the link to my set up biostar (http://www.biostar-usa.com/ideqdetails.asp?model=ideq+200v) I know most will say, "get a sound card", but I've been told for UT, that wont help. Also, money is a issue.
