hehe first of all hello to everyone, soon ill be back for a long time, i am in ireland now and will be here all my life ;)

why smile.. i found on PC magazine one interesting adress: www.onspeed.com they have some compression system that speeds up your dial up speed near to broadband... i dont trust that at all, but why dont give a try?

it is available free through many isps in america. it won't help your online gameplay.
what it *probably* does is:
1) cache frequently accessed web pages so you can retrieve them from their hopefully faster server
2) compress all html webpages to make them load faster
3) reduce image quality on all graphics to make the files smaller

the first two items are fine, for the third, it may make you have a less enjoyable porn experience if you like looking at details...

welcome back Hybrid, great to see you'll be coming back to us again.

I use an accelerator on my 28k connection and what Jim said is completely true. It has nothing to do with downloads or streaming media (aka-quake, serious sam, ect.) All it does is make the pictures blurry so if you clocked it, you would be getting about 80k/sec. Its okay for surfing but not worth it for anything else

P.S. Ermmm... Jim you'r allways first one who finds something bad in my given cr@p downloads :P

nah, i am not saying it is a bad thing, if i was on dialup, I would probably want to use it. for browsing things like this forum, it will probably be great...

yep... same thing as i thought... its only for dial-up users, but its not making any speed changes actually, also doesnt work for games as well, becouse its made only for web browsing
i think it compresses only images, and as Jim said... searches for nearest server
