Ichiro needs 3 more to beat record.
In US Major League Baseball, Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners got two hits on Tuesday.
He needs three more in the remaining five games to tie the record for the most hits in one season.
In the game against the Oakland Athletics, the Japanese outfielder produced a two-base hit in his first at-bat.
After he grounded out to shortstop in his second at-bat, he sent a single hit up the middle in his third at-bat, marking his 254th hit this year.
This put Ichiro in second place on the list of all-time, single-season hitters in the Major League.
With Tuesday's two hits, Ichiro is now three short of George Sisler's record, set in 1920.
Best of the Best! Go! Ichiro!!
