hi i've an athlon 2500 with an fsb of 333mhz running on an asrock k7s8x motherboard .when my pc boots up the prossesor is showing as only running at 166 mhz can anyone help with the fsb multiplier .

If I am right multiply by 2.
So it saying 166 it means 333

multipliers are locked on athlon xps....
the frequency however is not. if you wanted to overclock this, you could try upping the frequency to 170 or 175... Each point gets you 11 mhz...

I have the exact same chip and have been able to overclock by upping the FSB. Its curently running at 338MHz.

Let me clarify. You multiply whatever the FSB says (166) x 2 and that is what your FSB is running at. I checked mine and I have it OC'd to 170MHz, which gives me a 340MHz total FSB. It can go up to 400MHz but I don't have a reason to run it hotter...yet.
