I had no idea what webshots was until I googled around a bit. Found this article from the University of Arizona Center for Computing and Information Technology.

I've been using webshots for about 4 years so far, and it has never caused me any problems. I like using webshots for the screensaver functionality, but when I started using Zone Alarm, I found that webshots attempts to communicate with the web severeal times, even up to 250 times within minutes. I've denied it access to the web, since I see no reason for it to send or receive any information. I haven't downloaded any pictures from webshots since they started charging for the higher resolution pictures. I only use it for my own stash and it works just fine.
