Built a comp for my friend, and it's giving him blue screens whenever he trys to install programs or do some sort of action on it. Everything else worked fine when i built it for him and i installed all the drivers and stuff. I really dont know what to do in order to fix it for him. Can anyone help me?

Are the settings correct in the bios? Clock frequecies, memory settings etc. Sounds like it might be clocked incorrectly.

Check the RAM...I know in Windows XP, the only time I have EVER gotten the blue screen it was RAM related...I got it several times within a few days...i started looking online, got the idea to pull a stick of RAM...pulled one, kept happening...took the other out and put the first in...it stopped...just had a bad stick of RAM...it would sorta make sense if it stays ok as long as no real action is happening...it's probably putting something in RAM, then going nuts b/c the RAM acts up and it can't get it back...something like that.

what error message does he get in the bluescreen?

oh and bluescreens arent gone in XP...you just dont see them anymore cause the default setting is to restart the pc immediately if a "blue-screen-error" occurs(you can turn it of)
