What effects it? My friend has a XP 2700 and his is twice as fast as my 64 3500's.

does he have raid or sata running on his system? do you? if you have scsi devices which could be any one of your sata devices or raid controllers being used or enable can add 10 seconds to your boot time. depending on what devices or even drivers being used can this cause you a longer boot time. if it takes along time to get windows to boot up then one of your drivers may need to be updated. if it takes awhile before system boots before the os starts loading that is another thing but both are different. you may want to also look into a bios update to make boot times quicker.

best way I've found to speed up boot time is to either configure your bios to boot from hard drive first with quick boot enabled. HOWEVER! quick boot does disable some necessary startup checks so be wery of doing so
