Do you ATI owners do anything special to install new drivers? Like uninstalling the old ones first? or do you just overwrite the original?

I always just overwrite my old ones. I don't bother uninstalling or cleaning anything and they always work fine for me.

definetly with ati, you should uninstall the old software and drivers. this is actuall included in their drivers (an uninstall utility) and can be done in the add remove programs section of control panel. also disable virus software when installing any drivers.

BiggD is right in my experience. If you have previous drivers installed, new drivers should uninstall them automatically.

I have a Radeon 9000 4x AGP (don't throw stuff at me please!) and have never uninstalled the drivers before updating. Never had problems either so I think its more personal preference...

I've gone both ways. I have been lately installing these on my home PC and my daughter's PC remotely from my office. Haven't had any problems for a long time now.
