Anyone suspecting that they have gotten hacked by members of this board

1) If you can find any type of logs - router, firewall, etc, that include attacking IP addresses, copy them all into an email. Use a reverse DNS lookup tool to find out what isp owns the ip address.

2) If you do not have an IP address, but an email address of someone you suspect has hacked you, you can use that instead.

3) Describe what has happened to your system. Include any messages threatening to hack, copy all relevant posts, and the links to the posts. That may be hard to do since all of the relevant threads have been hidden.

4) send whatever you have to abuse@their-isp.com. For example if OPTONLINE.NET is their isp, address it to abuse@OPTONLINE.NET

5) If other people were hacked also, please have them do the same.

6) Be sure to use a real isp email address (no hotmail, etc) for your complaint, and to include your own ip address. From DOS mode do an ipconfig /all and look at the line that says IP Address.

7) Address your complaint to your ISP also. It's doubtful, but they might help take up your cause.

Chances are that you will not receive a reply and nothing will be done about anything. ISPs are not a police force and cannot investigate anything any more than anyone on these boards, especially considering how easy it is to spoof other people. However a complaint may help to establish a pattern in the case of future complaints or alternately if there are already complaints against the user in question, then that may push them to cancel
their account.

Having an account cancelled is really no big deal, it won't keep anyone offline but it can be annoying especially if it involves changing email addresses that are used for business purposes.

Needless to say, I find any such actions to be despicable, especially by so called "professionals" in the computing industry.

the instructions will work for pretty much anyone getting hacked anywhere. the key though is to have as much information as possible about the attacker.

After all that has happened in the last few days I got curious.
I went to my router page and had it start logging incoming access attempts.
After several hours I looked at it and was just slightly amazed. One address had tried to access over 16 different ports (went to lookup trojan ports on google and found that most of the ports were used by remote access trojans. Another Ip tried about 4 ports which seem to be used by windows messenger, you know, the one that always tried to give you a pop up during a game wanting you to get a diploma. The rest were just single ip's trying single ports. I guess what I am saying, if you don't use a really good anti virus program and practice safe surfing and msning (duh...I think I'll run this setup.exe program that this nice man I just met on msn sent me) You dang well better have a hardware firewall between you and the net.

EDIT>.....It helps to wear tall rubber boot also, the poopie gets pretty deep around here, ROFL @ Biggs and others.....I feel like such a goober!

First of all if you just posting replies to everyone and posting messages then how would someone get your IP number? I mean the only person that should have our IP numbers are the Admins?? Unless the forums themselves have been hacked?? Of course through email you can get someone's IP but that is only if you have a static IP more or less. So makes me wonder about the security of these forums?? Any other info you can give us would be helpful. Of course I know I have not been hacked and do not worry if I ever was because I would just re-format and start over no biggie to me.
