I love RE and havre played every game in the series. (except those lame shooter ones =P)
Really lookin foward to this one, which is more shooter oriented, has better graphics than its predecessors, and probably a more engaging storyline.

wow, at best buy they're giving away a free RE1 (the remake version for the cube) upon purchasing RE4 :D

I'll admit, after checking out some of the reviews it has got me a little excited too, I could always take or leave the RE series before, but had some good fun playing Veronica...the only Survival Horror which has grabbed me up till now is Silent Hill 2...but this does indeed look like a good evolution. Going to have to wait till March in Europe though :(

I really haven't gotten into any RE game ever cause I never really got the hang of the controls but I've been eyeballin' this one for awhile and I think I'm gonna give it another go looks like a terrific game. And who said Gamecube's graphics suck? = P

rivers, i've never played a RE game before either, but i've been playing it for the last 2 days, and it's quite possibly the most engaging game i've ever played

Oh yeah, I have never played any RE game(well I did but only for a bit) and I am wondering do I need to play the older ones to get into RE4? And which other RE are good?

I think RE2 was really good, lol sucks u cant play it tho.
Its pretty long and has a decent story.
Re4 is a bit difft that then others control wise, and overall gameplay wise.
The re games aren't really shoot-em up ssam types, but they are pretty fun.

RE4 finds a nice medium between the shooter genre and survival horror genre, in other words, you can shoot everything you want and stand up to hords of enemies with ample ammo, but the instant you slip up, you're pretty much in aa slaughter house, lol.

Kinda, only a bit slower, and u have to think alot more, u also have less ammo, and less powerful weapons.

So will I have to know about the other RE story to understand this one? And what are some other good RE games? I have a PS2 and GC.

No, you dont need any knowledge about any other RE game. I have never played a single one before this one and I understand the story. It's a completely different story line yet involves some of the same characters from older ones. Was dissapointed that there were no zombies...but they are as dumb as zombies but can weild weapons so i'm not complaining. :) Best game for GC so far IMO followed closely by Super Monkey Ball 2

Until later in the game when you upgrade them and then after you beat it, you can replay it with the same items/health. I hear good things.

I think you would need to play Resident Evil 2 to know who Ada is and how Leon and her are "friends". Also to understand the name Wesker. He's really important in this story. As far as I know, hes the one that will mainly continue the story for the next Resident Evil. (even though you can only hear his voice and name once in a while.) :)

i think everyone needs to play resident evil 1-4 even the gay fps ones..there still cool

resident evil 2 and 4 are my all time favorite

2 because it had so many mini games and stuff after you beat it, they put alot of time into it
