Whenever i play the UT2k4 the opening menu locksup, and then goes back to normal (like it has REALLY bad lag) but only on that screen
also when i am ingame it will do the same thing
any thoughts?
got the latest drivers already and windblows is already updated all the way (not sp2)
could it be the new mobo i put in...its the only thing that i can think of
okay i have tried both of my hard drives, and installed the game w/out patching before i played...its definately a hardware thing

Maybe your resolution is set too high? Or maybe your monitor's refresh rate is set too high?

 Holy crap... that seems like a drastic troubleshooting step. I'm glad it worked, but what prompted you to change the mobo? And did you just have one lying around or did you go out and buy one thinking it would work?
I ask partially for my own edification - I'm trying to become more hardware savvy, especially in light of the rash of computer problems I've gone through as of late.

i just put my old Asus AN78 SE Delux or something like that back in to replace the gigabyte one that i got from newegg b/c i thought my AGP port was gone (Turns out some of the pins on the CPU were bent so it wouldnt boot at all.
List of the problems w/ the Gigabyte board
1. Sometimes the computer wouldnt even turn on...and sometimes it would
2. ALL of my games that i tried had the problem that i described earlier
3. Didnt recognize the TV tuner card (Didnt know it was there)
4. Same as #3 but w/ the sound card
I think there is some other stuff that i cant remember
This solidified my loyalty to Asus for mobos
