I got a new router for my xbox live/ computer same time use. Its a D-Link DI-604, i want to make some servers in serious sam but my router has a firwall in it. Can someone please tell me how to disable the router firewall so my servers are visible?

didn't the router come with a CD or some other kind of documentation? Maybe even a configuration utility?

whereever you configured it, look at an applications & gaming section, or port forwarding section. specify that it forward tcp/udp traffic on the sam port to your computers ip address.

to find your computers ip address, go into dos and do an ipconfig /all

if none of that works for j00, then have the other person make a server... :P

I wouldn't disable the firewall. I had that same router, still do, it's on the shelf as a paperweight since I got my linksys. I'd open the port(s) needed to run a sam server, instead of disabling it all together.

Jims post was confusing to me lol, i dont really know much of anything about them so i dont know how to forward ports to sam or what not. Can you please rephrase in english? :P

you bought a router.
somehow the router is working with your setup.
try posting a screenshot of the program that configures it.

Hey bud, if you call D-Link's 1-800 support number, they will walk you through it (screen by screen).
There is still the slight chance that your server won't be visible, if so, you would need to e mail or PM your IP address to those folks who you trust, and want to frag with. :)

BTW, I just picked up a DI-604 too, today ($28.00).....if only I'd remembered that Grimmy had one laying around :bawling: ....:)
