I just changed my avatar, but it told me it had to be 50x50 or smaller. My last one was 75x75, and Pure_Evil looks like he has one that is 100x100 or greater. What gives? Has there been a recent rule change as to how big an avatar you can use? I had to make my new avatar so small you can barely see it.

Oh god.. I wish I kept my first avatar which was HUGE! lol I love huge avatars. Maybe I could buy a large avatar and be the only special member with a 200x200 avatar! muahah Oh yea!

Actually, for GM it's easier to have to provide storage for only smaller images instead of bigger files.. However, maybe people who host their own avatar could be given bigger sizes?! :/

To be honest, I think your avatar looks good at that size.. Maybe just a hair bigger. If you had a disney character or something, that would be an entirley different story!

Oh and Sal likes small avatars because it looks more professional,(I think).. That's why he has a tiny one. Someone should find him an avatar so great and big, that he just can't not use it@ WOHAA

Well, I am hosting my own avatar - no storage space for GM involved. The size restriction still applies, though. :(

Also, I just checked my avatar upload capabilities and my limit is 125 x 125.. hmm... That's still better than some forums and you don't see any HUGE ugly avatars.

Maybe the size of the avatar you're allowed to have increases with your post count. :P

Still, dunno why I was able to have that 75x75 avatar when I first joined. I agree that there should be more lenient size restrictions for avatars hosted off-site.

eh, well, the size limit is not for j00, but for the benifit of dialup users and also the board in general. i think gm hosts it regardless of where it comes from, and bandwidth displaying avatars could probably better be used when the boards are running slowly.... or at least so i spekerlate...

This will not stand! Avedis just signed up and his restrictions are 125x125 or 48 kb. I've been here for over a month and mine are 50x50 or 19 kb!! What's the deal?! It's DISCRIMINATION!!

You should be all set. It was a problem with your group's permissions. BTW, please fix your sig so it isn't so wide. Thanks.

Ok - there's something buggy in the avatar section. I just tried to upload my larger one again... and it took it this time. Then, once it took it, my restrictions showed as 125x125 or 48 kb. I don't get it.

Your sig is still too wide :bawling:

Everybody's avatar restrictions are the same. 125x125 and 50k max in size.

Yeah, brain fart on that one... I specifically made the animated .gif the same width as the Xfire profile so they would neatly stack, but somehow forgot to put the line break between the two images. On our old forums, the second image would auto-wrap below the first if the user's screen res wasn't wide enough to accomodate it. Salvation took the liberty to fix it for me - thanks Sal!

I'm brainstorming on a new sig image that would be the same dimensions as the Xfire profile. I don't want my sig to be obnoxious in size, but still want something more personal than JUST the Xfire sig.
