Planet Unreal has compiled and summarized pretty much everything the public currently knows about Epic Games' next project, which they are calling in-house "ENVY". The actual name of the game has not been hinted at, although some have speculated that it will be called "UT 2006/2007". Although the game isn't due for at least another year, I think there is some great information in the article that most Unreal fans would like to see. Ugh, that right there makes me want to cry...

I'll try not to be too pessimistic - or at least not too vocal in my pessimism... but it feels like they're going to totally n00b-out and nerf the game. :(

Even though I only have 1/2 of Warhead's skill, I have to agree with CSing the game out would flat out kill it. One of the things they fail to see is that the reason there was a drop from 2003 to 2004 is because they already noobed it out.


Canister Gun

* Acts as grenade-launcher, mine-layer, and bio-rifle all in one
* Ammo dictates firing mode


OMG... they did NOT call is a "Canister Gun" lame.. so lame.

Bio rifle is one of the coolest weapons out there :(

Afraid not - that's one of the things that a lot of people are up in arms about - no lightning gun.

i dont care about the splashdamage, but imo it fits much better into the unreal universe ... and somehow my aiming is better with it :)

The cs thing according to the article is totally unrelated to the gameplay. The graphics look amazing and the way they plan to improve the movement sounds good too.

I have to agree that the graphics look incredible. However, I wouldn't consider the movement changes I'm hearing to be an improvement. Most of the people who play UT like the fast-paced movement - it's part of what separates UT from every other FPS out there. If they nerf the movement the game will be more boring, IMO.

I haven't played for long but I hope they don't change the pace of the gameplay. I like hwo fast it goes and it makes it so that the average match doesn't last more than 1/2 an hour which makes the turn over better.

Today, Epic announced the official name and logo of the next Unreal game, Unreal Tournament 2007. Keep in mind that this does not necessarily mean that they will release it in 2007 (and may utilize a naming scheme similar to the one used in the automotive industry). You can see the logo and further details in this Beyond Unreal article (http://www.beyondunreal.com/main/future/ut2007.php).

I think the new logo looks great:

Bleh... the graphics look awesome, but I don't want to trade graphics for gameplay. Thank goodness for demos - I'll be able to get a good taste of UT2007 before I spend any money on it. I'm just grateful that its release should still be a ways off.

Darn you 9s! I just saw an article on MegaGames about that and I was all pumped to look like I was on top of things and announce it! Darn you!!! LOL

Ironically... Serious Sam 2 is going to be known as SS2007 since, after all, THAT'S WHEN THEY ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO RELEASE IT!!
