I've not been to one of these UltraUnreal events before, but I'm hearing a few people talk about this in the UT2004 community. I'm considering going, but I haven't yet decided. There will be tournaments for 4v4 TDM, 5v5 CTF, and 1v1 DM, for both UT2004 and UT99.

that timing sounds good (in my annual hollidays) only drawback is they don't have iCTF :-P (I know I'm a newb :o)

Considering that the larges lan party in Omaha Nebraska, with a population of around 700,000 people, is only 50-100 per event, it raises the question about marketing. I'm sure Omaha can generate much larger events with the proper advertising campain, but is it worth the effort? I don't know. Unlike Louisville, Omaha has around 5 lan groups competing for the market, and from the looks of it, they generally tend to attract the same people across the board. If they were to combine their efforts, they might actually be able to do better IMO. So, it looks like if you want the largeer lan events you have only a select few to choose from around the US. The largest by far is QuakeCon in Texas, which I may actually find time to go to next summer considering that it's a free event, and I have lots of family to visit in texas. Then there's Lanwar in Kentucky, which is supposedly the largest lan event in the middwest. And then there is one I heard about in California, but don't remember the name. Other than that, most lan events tend to be on a much smaller scale than we are used to at Lanwar.

My girlfriend lives 10 miles from Columbus... :hmmm: ...i may need to go visit towards the end of july...
