Guys is this a good drive? I want to pick one up in black. I noticed that the buyers said it is a bit noisy. I would like to use this for movie playback on my pc but if it is a noisy drive, it would defeat the purpose of watching movies on my monitor. What do you guys say?

:thumbs: add $4 bucks for shipping, but that would be about the tax anyways. 55 votes from newegg and has a five star rating....

It's only noisy when burning a disc, and I am not talking like shake your house down noisy, its pretty quiet when playing a movie.

I picked up a bare NEC ND-3520A opti DVD+-DL that is black, awhile back for $79 but they are even priced lower now! Note: this drive ir rated DL but that (DL support) is coming in a firmware update, reportedly 5-1-05

So far I like it, its quiet and works and burns great and after some investigaition, I read that the black drives will record better dvd's than the white or beige mods as to not have probs with any optic light reflections off the the dvd medium!!

Like Slice suggested Lite on, Nec, or even BenQ both make reportedly some Great DVD DL drives ! :thumbs:
