Im trying to get this new system up and running.. But I am unsure of a few things..
Just bought a AMD 3000+ 64bit with a K8 Triton Gigabyte Board I am unaware of the Frequency at which I can set my Mobo up to run with it. A friend of mine said it was 333 - but i am unsure. (my case has about 6 fans) Can anyone confirm this for me? Also I bought a Asus geforce n6600gt 128 ddr3 graphics card, and i was told overclocking is possible? How is this done?
Thanks Again
Joe

Hey Joe, is this the board you have?:

There should be some type of model number after K8 Triton.
Oh, and hi!

Sorry Joe, I'm coming up empty handed. I did my usual google search, but couldn't find where anyone recommended what setting to use for the cpu.
I found the site for downloading the motherboard's manual if you need it.

The information is hard to find but ...
AMD Sempron 3000+ (Socket A)
Operating Frequency (MHz): 2000 MHz
Clock Multiplier: 12.0x
Nominal Voltage: 1.60 Volts
Maximum Diode Temperature: 90º C
L2 Cache: 512KB
FSB Frequency (MHz): 333 MHz
How to figure:
Clock Multiplier x FSB Frequency = Operating Frequency
12 x 166mhz(333) = 1992 (rounded up to 2000)
EDIT I had the links to the webpages where I found that info, but had to get off the computer quickly and can't find them again. They were on the AMD knowledge site though.

That cpu runs the same as my AMD Athlon 64 3200+..2.0 GHz
The m/b should auto detect what the fsb and multiplier is, if not, the board should be set at 200 MHz x 10 = 2.0 GHz.

Thats what i thought oscar - isnt the 3000+ built the same as the 3200+? Its currently set at 200.

Ooops you are correct, seems like I read that the multiplier is locked at 10 for that chip. Like I said earlier, I had to get off quickly and didn't get to post all that I was going to post yesterday.
I did find that article again though:
