Per Doohan's request, said longtime agent Steve Stevens Sr., the sci-fi star will be cremated and his ashes launched into space by the same Houston-based aerospace company that shot the remains of Gene Roddenberry into orbit following the Star Trek creator's 1991 death. Stevens said he didn't know precisely when Doohan's outer space memorial would occur. "As soon as the next flight goes up," he said.

I think that is a way cool way to spend eternity. :thumbs:

Doohan was a great actor, and he filled the role of Scotty well. I am a big-time Trekkie, and I know that it is a sad day for Trekkies everywhere. May he rest in peace in the final fronteir.

I learned something today about James Doohan..

He landed on Juno Beach on D-Day. He was hit by 6 machine gun bullets later, in the chest, legs, and one took off his right middle finger. (I'll have to look at one of the old episodes to see if I can spot that.)

I believe it's the latter Sasquatch, 79 episodes of the original series. Of course I am a major Trekkie, I've seen every series (except for the short-lived animated series), and saw all 10 movies. I've never been to a convention. So, James Doohan shall be with DeForest Kelley once again. Jimmy, ahead, warp factor two. Engage!
