What is the difference when speaking about ram, between unbuffered and registered,

Registered ram is typically used in servers where the system/data is critical. It is similar to a parity check in that it has additional hardware on the ram that validates the data being read/written to the memory chips. Read more at: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/ram.htm
