Judge Rehnquist Dies

Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist passed away today, leaving a second supreme court justice nomination in the hands of Bush and Congress.

He served 33 years in the supreme court!

One of the news stations said that his choice was perhaps partially spurred by the fact that he likes Roberts, but the choice to elevate him to Chief nomination is simply that doing this will require only 2 confirmations, instead of the 3 required to nominate 2 replacements, plus nominate a justice already on to move up to Chief.
