For those with widescreen monitors, you'll notice that Q4 does not natively support widescreen resolutions. Luckily, there is an easy fix. Open Quake 4\q4base\Quake4Config.cfg in a text editor and change the following lines:
seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "1680"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_aspectRatio "2"
The setup menu in game will still say 640x480, but in the game it will be the perfect widescreen resolution for those Dell widescreen moinitors.
