If I had the speakers and other sound components to go along with it I would def buy it. Unfortunately I do not so I'll settle for something cheaper. Sound cards are important to gaming you see!

My family let me know a long time ago that they didn't appreciate me turning up my 5.1 system loud enough to hear footsteps. :rolleyes:

So now I have a fairly nice set of Altec Lansing headphones, and the onboard sound from my Asus mobo works just fine. The bass obviously can't match that of a subwoofer, but it's not bad - better than I thought it would be. If I were to spend that much money on a card, it would be a video card.

I use the on board sound on my ASUS too. Don't have nice speakers though, just a Dell set up (woofer and 2 speakers) I picked up at a PC Surplus store. :)

I could be wrong but i think 7.1 surround sound is a bit OTT. 5.1 is more than enough for most games.
