protect the people until they get his health down

then

go to the front of the castle, kong can't smack you but you can still fire weapons at him

Yea it took me a few times to kill the damn monkey. I forgot about the SD.

Was quite easy, only thing u must have is a good savepolicy and some seriousbomb collecting, so the spider-/bull- problem before it u can blast with SB and then u have ur SD for the mental institution ;), after that u have inflicted so much damage that a last desperate attack for surviving will succeed :D
