Prpblem connecting PS2 to the internet

hey i have connected my ps2 to the internet before up at school but now that im home and try to set up a new connection its teln me some bs about my DNS server and i have no idea ehat that is so if any one can help it would be much appriciated

its saying either connection failed or connection timed out

Is the connection going through a router? Try connecting without the router.
When I had my xbox it figured everything out on it's own. I was not using a router then though.

iv tried it with both and it still wont connect i think it might be cablevision thats ****ed up but i dunno w/e it is its really startn to piss me off
