Dumb and Dumber bank robbers arrested after photographing themselves with loot
Last March, Anthony Prince, 20, and Luke Carroll, 19, who were living in Vail, Colorado at the time, robbed a local bank and may have gotten away with their hair-brained scheme if they hadn't made several fatal errors - including photographing themselves holding the pilfered loot!
The pair managed to avoid the much stiffer sentences usually associated with armed robbery since it was pointed out by defense lawyers that the guns used during the stickup were actually unloaded BB guns.
The robbery has received extensive media coverage in Australia, where the pair have been dubbed "Dumb and Dumber" in light of their hair-brained plot.
Providing prosecutors with conclusive photographic evidence of their crime was not the only mistake the young robbers made. Firstly, their distinct "Down Under" accents, would have made narrowing down the list of possible suspects in the small mountainous resort, a relative synch.
Secondly, the pair used their easily traceable Vail ski passes to enter a ski lift just one block from the WestStar branch in order to make their getaway.
But lastly, (and most importantly), the fact that both men were still wearing their work badges from the local ski shop where they were employed during the holdup, may just have tipped off the authorities to their identities!
