"He plays violent, first-person-shooter video games better than anyone in the world."
Thats arguable, he can and will always be beaten but in the long run he trains to be the best at whatever game the CPL chooses.

Pretty downgrading that they call him a geek. No pro-gamer I've read about falls into that category. He becoming more of a businessman, recruiting and training gamers, putting his logo on hardware and drawing in sponsors to enlarge the pro gaming scene.

I honestly doubt that "biulds his own products from the ground up" since he DIDN'T graduate from college and spent most of his time playing games I doubt there is much he can tell a motherboard engineer that he or she don't already know.

That was a very interesting read about someone that is getting paid to do something that he loves to do. I hope he saving his money for when his skills taper off and his sponsors drop him, I would imagine the retirement plan for aging ex-pro gamers sucks.

I think saving money is a lost concept for many.

Nice story :)

That he owns is definatly true, and his dedication to the pro-gaming is also very impressive...

But I think it would be more impressive if someone owns at strategy games, wich is more like chess. What I'm trying to say is that to much can be established with the right hardware. Won't give huge difference in reall life but with games like were reactionspeed is the most important besides accuracy will a 10th of a sec advantage help a lot if u know that the humanreaction speed is between the 0.5 and 1 sec

All the best Starcraft players are in Korea where they have a more established and mainstream pro e-sports community.

Sure it can help but not so much as with a FPS...

But there is a story behind the Korea Starcraft madness. Blizzard got even rewarded by the Korean goverment cuz of the game wich (is the story I believe) "prevent" public problems or at least give them some joy during the economical malaise. That's why the country is still very starcraftminded so servers, connections etc. will still got improven for this particular game. They became the best cuz they still play a lot (since 1998. YES there is even a topic in wikipedia for starcraft :D)

I thought the show was pretty entertaining and was surprised they actually had good things to say about computer gaming instead of trying to put it down.
