I would advse to build you own.
If you choose not to see a local computer shop.
This way instead of buying a dell or something you
can pick and choose your products.

i would recommend reinstalling xp after you install a large piece of equipment such as a mobo...they all have different drivers, if you don't fully get rid of all of the old ones there might be conflicts...

First tell us what you have right now...including how many watts your power supply has, type of video card, size and speed of hard drive, amount and type of memory, Type and speed of CPU. Need to know this to see what can be reused in the new machine. Also tell us how much you want to spend. That will help in the decision between AMD and Intel.

Yes, first things first. We'll have to know what you currently have that you intend to plug into your new board. If you are going to use your current Processor, it will of course have to be one built for that brand and spec.
No, it does not come with XP installed - XP is installed on your Hard Drive. A clean build on a new board is preferable, as it will recognize all the new components on the new board, and could have a conflict with the old stuff. XP is pretty good, though, and you would probably be able to get it all sorted out, but why hassle. It's nice if you have a second HD, so you can just lace the current one in after building, and get the things you need off.
The Power Supply, PS, and cooling for a new setup are important, as many other things - ie, will your new board have ATA133, or Serial ATA, and will your HD do that? If not, no big deal there, it will go down to ATA100 or 66 or 33 as needed.
Give us a list, and we'll give you some more concrete direction. :jammin:

you do not need new motherboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you need new video card as it isnt even a geforce. purchase a 9500pro or 9700pro ati video card and you will be set. also if you have enough buy some more ram.

But his point is sound; the rest of your system ain't too bad, although 512 RAM or more would help you. I don't know what 3.3 gigabits means, is that HD size? But, if you scrap upgrading your MB and whatever else, and get the $280 9700 Pro, the difference will be impressive. Man, going from that old TNT card to nearly anything newer will be impressive, and you could get GF4 4200 for less than $150, and see a very nice increase.
