pretty pissed at amd right now. its almost same price as the p4 3.06 and its still not faster. buy and 1800 with thoroughbred core and clocl it 2.00 ghz. should hold you until hammer is out and will only cost you 80 bucks

I was curious how do you overclock? Im sorry if I ask too many questions im just curious. If anyone could explain to me how or where to go to learn how to overclock my processor I would greatly appreciate all the help.

Overclocking can be done in your Bios at startup....this usually means increasing your FSB (front side bus) and your multiplier. You can also increase your voltage to your CPU but if you go to far you will turn your CPU into burnt toast...Be very careful no matter what you do...Here is a pretty good article on overclocking...Most of the newer AMD chips don't have to have the bridges reconnected like they show in this article.

It's a new release, I'm sure it will have significant drops in short time, provided they can produce enough. I hope they release a BIOS flash for my A7V333 to be able to use a chip like that, otherwise, a 2800 is my cap. I'm not in the market right now, but I doubt I'd buy a new chip just to go from 1800 to, say, 2400, so until the 2700s or 2800s come down, I'll keep waiting for the A-64s, too. I think the Inquirer reported that they've been pushed back to September.

Oops, I see the FSB 333 chips are only supported on the 2.0 revision of my board, I'm pretty sure I have a 1.1, so although I'm on BIOS 1015, I'm not sure I can support a 333 FSB chip. I'll have to check in the BIOS to see what it offers. So, a 2600 FSB 266 might be as far as I can go. :bawling:

i am against overclocking but now with the nforce2 boards you can overclock and safely lock your pci bus. i would not reccomend o'cing if you do not have this feature on your system. as far as all nforce2 boards you are safe and it's stable as all hell. i picked up an 1800xp last friday and running it at close to 2ghz which is like an 2600xp. because of this success, i will not buy a barton core and wait until the hammer comes out.

I don't OC, but if you're able to get a stable 33% boost in clock speed, that's a nice bump.
