You want to talk to Pure. He has vonage. He says that he can be downloading stuff, playing a game online and talking and notice no quality loss in any of it, though.

I have Vonage too and I like it. I've never noticed any loss of quality when I am online or downloading, but very rarely I will have an echo and I will have to redial a number. Definitely worth it since it is half the cost of my old SBC land line.

Wow! They're pretty cheap! I expect a full review sometime down the road after you've tested. Also - is there somewhere on the site to actually check availability? I couldn't find it!

pick a number Bob, should do it.

what I couldn't find was whether or not you could keep your old number or if there was a fee to transfer it.

I didnt check into it as I have company mobiles but wanted something that I could use when they arent working well. And to check availability you can signg up and see what #s are available. You do that before any money is asked for. I will let you know after I use it for a wk.

hmm...they don't have a number from teh area that I'm @, but it says that you can still sign up w/o that, you'll just have a number from a different area...

It's all really just interesting to me - there's no land-line broadband @ the house i'm moving into, so it's just curiousity.

This is by my knowledge not commercialised to the broad public yet over here in Europe :(

I have vonage service also, sounds great on my end, but everyone who calls complians, they say its spotty. I cranked up the bandwith for highest quality, still sounds like crap on the other end as I tested it from the neighbors house (which was now long distance for my next door nieghbor to call me) I couldn't keep my old phone number as promised and now SBC is making all vonage prefixs long distance from any of thier numbers. I do like the cost, cheap. Dosen't affect downloads or vis versa. Power goes out and no phone. Sometimes router problems can be a nightmare trying to get your phone operating agian.
hope this helps
