View Full Version : Folder Name not showing up

On my H drive none of the folder's name is showing up. If I click on it I can see the "details," on the left-hand side. Its only happening on this drive. Any solutions?

The only thing I can think of is to click 'tools' on the menubar, then click the last option for 'Folder Options' and see if you have some wierd view selected.

You might also need to check on the 'view' tab on that box to see if there is something screwy there.

Nope, nothing. This is pretty weird. Everything is checked off that is needed to be.

Its a new drive, got it perhaps a month or two ago. Its going to be a primarily music hard drive.

Just do a link to it, that sucker was HUGE. As blind as I am, I didn't even need my glasses to see it. :)

i can't guarentee this will work, since what you're getting is pretty odd, but it's worth a try:

Close all windows. the open my computer and surf to a folder on one of the HDD s that is showing the names. While there, go Tools->Folder Options, click the view tab, then click Apply To All Folders.

Then browse back and see if they changed.

Oh! Oh! I might have it! Open my Computer, hold down shift, and double click on the H drive! See what that does! (this might sound sarcastic, but I'm serious)

If you're in thumbnail view, holding shift when you double click a folder will toggle the filenames on and off.

For what it's worth, I put myself into thumbnail view (Using the little button on the far right of the button bar) and then did the shift-double-click thing and yes, it put me into exactly the same view he had.

I tried it too (i just didn't bother to say it) It worked for me, too.

Thanks! It worked. No wonder it didn't show it, the rest of my hard drives didn't have thumbnail view on.
