Right now I have a Volcano 6cu+ on my XP2000 and its almost funny how loud it is. I need something that does the job while being nice and quiet. Nothing is overclocked except for my GF3 video card.

I agree. An SLK-800 with a decent 80mm fan makes a tough combo to beat.

The SLK800 looks like a great cooler but isn't the fan what makes the noise? I don't care about cooling my system, just give me an unnoticeable fan! :D

Sal there are some companies that make an plastic or alum. adapters to mount a larger 80mm fan on your heatsink base which uses a 60mm fan.
Although the larger fans spin slower they put out way more air and are quieter to boot. ;)
Here's a review of some different adapters and on the last page there are some links where to get them. LINK (http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=78)
These are made of Alum.

salv i know how you feel with the fans for amd cpu. i told amd rep that they need to make a better fan as the fans suck that come with cpu. my dual system pisses me off with the damn noise. i swear amd better get there act together. intel always had great fans.

Enermax Adjustable 8CM cooling fan LINK (http://www.maxpoint.com/peripherals/peripherals_uc_8fab.htm)
Manual adjustable fan speed, 1000 RPM ~ 3000 RPM, 2-ball-bearing clear fan, chromed fan guard, 3pin to 4pin adaptor.
It already comes setup with an RPM monitor wire so you can just mount it and go. ;)
Newegg has them for $7 Model#: UC-8FAB-B LINK (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=127&manufactory=1400&DEPA=1&sortby=14&order=1)

That's an interesting solution, and AMDMB.com is a great site for tech info and help on nearly anything, especially AMD-based MBs. The forums there are filled with knowledgeable blokes; it tends to be serious discussion, and they expect you to have read up a little, but just searching the forums can often answer questions, and people are eager to help there. Great reviews and testing as well.

That is quiet, I think 40 or so ain't too bad, 70 is approaching dustbuster.

I've never been a fan of Heatsinks that use a mixture of copper & alum. for their base just for the reasons they mentioned on their webpage. I did like the attachment clip.
I still stand by a Thermaright SLK-800 mated with that fan I mentioned above as the cooling solution I would go with. In fact the Volcano 7+ that i'm currently using might just find a new home on the shelf. :hmmm: ;)
