I'm not going to get it until I get a new video card. That is the only thing that is holding me back.

I finally got connected to a site to download it. It took 2.5 hours because of the slow download speed. :bandhead:

I thought the d/l was slow to, but it only took me 14 minutes...I guess it's just a timing thing. I have in the past killed a d/l that was going to slow and started it up again. Sometimes this would get it to d/l at normal speeds. Sometimes not.

But not too sure if I want to install it.
With my video card would I beneifit from Direct X9?

Tell you the truth, with the crappy times/rates I was getting, I decided to let the rush pass and get it later. I did put DX 9 on, though. I was going to run the old 3DMark, but I saw a post in another forum that said it wouldn't run - needed 8.1. DX is usually very backward compatible, so I'll have to check that out.

I installed DX9 and it managed to shave about 100 points off my DX8.1 score.

ATI's Response (http://hwextreme.com/reviews/misc/3dresponse/)

ATI has issued a statement about the new 3DMark.

Toms hardware has a little blurb about the new 3Dmark as well. I tried it out last night and got a measly 875. I don't know how that compares as their comparison server was all messed up when I tried it last night. My system is an XP2000+ with a GF3 TI200. Anyone else have results they'd like to share?

I know if you upgrade your vid card, you will score a lot better. I scored an 880 my first time, on this dell 1.9GHz and I have th ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, and just installed the card and reran 3dMark, and scored 3030. :wootrock:

THe 9700 is the card for this test, I got a 1467. In the flight tests, I got pretty decent frames, but in the Battle for Proxycon and the chick slaying trolls, and the troll jump (which I love!) my frames went to single digits, and sometimes single digit...as in 1! Depressing!

That's still an amazing score for 2002. Highest I've seen. Are you saying that with DX9 the scores are invalid with 2002?

My 2002 won't even run right. Don't know what the deal is, maybe I will try it again with the new drivers installed.

But, I Overclocked the 9700 pro and water cooled it, right when it came out, so that might be why too.

I could probably beat it. I got my 2001 to work yesterday and got a 15,800 with out overclocking anything. I will let you keep the throne for now though. ;) :P
